An environmentally friendly artwork from Nantes
How to promote the use of environmentally friendly energies in public spaces?
The artwork SolarBabylon was born from the collaboration of the artist Alexandre Dang and students from the Audencia Business School in Nantes.
Alexandre Dang through his artworks would like to raise people’s awareness on environmental changes.
His most emblematic work are the Dancing Flowers, each one of them has a photovoltaic eye on it which transforms sunlight into electricity. This energy enables the flowers to move from side to side.
Solar Babylon is therefore a mobile garden, which flowers get moving when catching the sunlight.
The artwork will be also set in a container or in a crate enabling it to be moved around.
Solar Babylon’s goal with this ecologically responsible piece of art is to raise awareness of people on the potential of renewable energies.
A mobile artwork: it will move from city to city in order to promote an ecological message and make sure that as much people as possible gets to see the poetic charm of this dancing garden.
The French DRAC from the region Pays-de-la-Loire will first provide a support to the cultural mediation of the artwork in the region and then the garden will hit the roads of France and maybe of the world!
